Maddie

This little love is Maddie.  Last year she had an accident and fell off a wheelchair ramp and received a major brain injury. She was placed in a medically induced coma so that her brain could heal. It's been a year since the accident and Maddie has just started to talk to her mom about what happened during those three days. It's been pretty amazing, humbling  and faith provoking to hear. I don't want to share too much about this tender experience but Maddie got to spend some time with Lila. She said that Lila  couldn't stop hugging her and that she wanted to ask her all about her mom. (Melt my heart!) It's been fun to picture our girl hugging, chatting and being such a great comforter to others  in the next life. 

If only i could spend a few days with her. ....

The other morning I caught Ruby chatting with Lila in the garden. By the time I got out my phone to record the sweet exchange she was just thanking her sister for sending her a tulip solar light. 

Protectors.

Ruby and daddy have been walking to church together. (Look how adorable she looks with her owl backpack!) this week as they were walking to church Ruby told daddy to walk in the gutter (we don't have sidewalks in our neighborhood) so that she could protect him. Quinn said if your protecting me who is protecting you? Immediately Ruby said "Lila protects me"

It's that time of year

 

Every year I wonder if it's worth it to get the pool up and running. It's expensive and frustrating. But then that first day comes and we get in the pool and I realize how many wonderful memories that we are going to have here. In honor of Lila.

When I was pregnant with lila Quinn and I went to Hawaii and got this hi life onesie  for her. All three babies have worn it now.
